#168- seeing The Green Hornet

If I was to give you one advice before you leave for the movie theater to watch the Green Hornet, it would be, LEAVE YOUR BRAIN AT HOME!

Seriously.

Eran is back in town, and I’m under the influence; his of course.  That’s how I ended up @ the movie theater, 3D glasses on nose, watching The Green Hornet.  I shouldn’t blame it all on Eran, though it feels much better to do so. After all, I went willingly, expecting  lots of special effects, exploding things shot out of a black car targeting bad guys.  If my opinion of Seth Rogen wasn’t low enough, the previews of the movie were more than enough to leave one with no hope for a good movie.

Silly is a fair judgment I’d say.

i was most impressed with the espresso machine.  i goggled it, wondered about its price, could it fit into my small kitchen.  then reality walked in.  discussing it with one of the coffee addicts, he reminded me the basics of coffee roasting.

yes, i should have remembered.  one of the ways i was taught to check how fresh are the beans was to put them in a Ziploc bag, get all air out and leave it over night.  if in the morning the bag contains air.  remember it’s not air, it’s CO2 emitted by the freshly roasted beans.  and… so i was told, one is to wait 24 hours until some of this CO2 is released.

true or not, am not going to argue.  however, am no longer looking for the Green Hornet Espresso machine.

interestingly enough, there are no photos of this sophisticated cool machine are to be found. 😦

as for the movie?  at one point i was about to get up and leave.  knowing I’ll have to wait until the movie is over anyway, since we came in one car had a lot to do with my decision to stay.

so i did laugh, was fighting some irrational urges to slap Seth Rogen for his stupidity, arrogance.. well, for being his stupid big screen self.  and then it was over.

other than the espresso machine i won’t have, i googled one more thing. Jay Chou.

Jay Chou. born 1979

apparently Jay Chou [周杰倫; simplified Chinese: 周杰伦; pinyin: Zhōu Jiélún] is much more than a pretty face acting as Seth Rogen sidekick in a silly movie.

Jay Chou is a well-known Taiwanese musician, singer-songwriter, music and film producer, actor and director who has won the World Music Award four times. at 25 he published his first book.

first book's cover: "Grandeur de D Major"

and, as if to make the point of how un-Hollywood like he is, he spent Valentine’s Day not without a date but at the studio, writing a song devoted to the “Pride of Taiwan” super marathon runner Kevin Lin.  the song is to be the theme of Lin’s long run on the ancient silk road starting in April.

so one espresso machine that doesn’t exist and one star that none of us know who he is…

here’s one of his songs.
